Campus Life
There is a very full schedule of academic requirements. However, there are opportunities for students to pursue extracurricular activities such as exercise and music in special rooms on campus that are designated for these purposes. In addition, students can utilize their free time on a Friday afternoon or Motzai Shabbos to visit nearby parks, gyms and pools.
Shabbos mornings and alternate Friday evenings are times for students to be hosted by local families. The vast majority of students have some close family in Lakewood, and these students often invite friends along. The students have the opportunity to interact with the families and enjoy the atmosphere in their homes.
Two or three Friday evenings per month are set aside for the entire Yeshiva to eat together, with one of the faculty joining them for the meal. The faculty member gives a short talk on a relevant topic. In addition, a student volunteer prepares a brief speech, which enhances the meal and gives the students experience in public speaking.
During the winter Friday evenings, faculty members offer voluntary seminar and discussion groups after the meal. Students are encouraged to request topics for these meetings. Singing and refreshments add to this experience.

Guest Speakers
There are regularly scheduled guest speakers throughout the year. Students have the opportunity to hear from pre-eminent local scholars as well as out-of-town visitors from various parts of the United States and abroad.
Publication Program
While the publication program is currently in its very early stages, there are plans underway for expansion of this program.
A volume of scholarly pieces by faculty and students was produced in Spring 2009. Subsequently, students in the upper classes have been encouraged to write original pieces highlighting their studies, and another volume was printed in Spring 2013. It is anticipated that the program will continue to grow as the upper classes grow larger and younger students vie for the prestige of participating as well. |
Community Service
Students are encouraged to use their free time productively. In addition to pursuing further studies in various areas, many students use their discretionary time to become involved in the many social service organizations in town.
Students can get involved in various community service projects, such as fundraising for Lev L’Achim, or tutoring local children in their schoolwork. Many students participate in outreach programs during the summer vacation, providing educationl programming in far-off communities. This affords the students a well-planned vacation with opportunities to see various parts of the country as well as the chance to develop their ability to interact with various demographics and see if they are suited to future careers in education and outreach. |
